Crop List: Cosmic Mix, Kale, Spinach, Sugar Snap Peas, Turnips, Mint, Thai Basil, and maybe Australe Head Lettuce
We planted a new garden this spring. It had been in pasture for about 15 years. The cows have been grazing and fertilizing it. We tilled it in about 2 years ago, after that we cover cropped it and have been breaking up the sod to create a plush seed bed. The soil is amazing. The weeds are not as numerous as in other areas which have been repeatedly disturbed over the years. This week's spinach and peas are from the new garden. We were also amazed by this year's radishes. We have been having record yields! Generally when radishes get as big as this year's have been getting, the center hollows out and they rot. We are growing the same variety we have been for years! It seems the radish spirit loves the new field too! Check it out as you drive down the farm road, it is on our western boundary.
The garden is loving all this heat! The plants and weeds are all growing so quickly. I've been loving it too. Here we are mid summer! I think it was snowing about a month ago! What did that feel like?

Featured Meat of the Week: Pork Chops!
Our chops are $10.50 per pound. The chops come 2 to a package. What makes our pork so special? We feed the pigs all the skim milk from the cows, they root around in real soil and they get garden scraps. Many people who "don't like pork" have decided they do after eating our pork! Great for grilling, or fry in a pan with a mix of butter and olive oil.
